I recently won a Penn 155 on ebay for a few bucks. When I received the item the handle wouldn't turn. I took it to my local bait shop abd found there was no one in my area to repair these classic reels. I attempted to repair it myself, took it all apart, but then couldn't get it back together to work properly. I found Chef's website and gave him a call. He said he gets a lot of reels in baggies to go ahead and ship it. When i got it back it looked like a new reel. He shined the chrome and sideplates, and it works like a dream. Thanks Chef for the excellent service and hope to be able to do business in the future

Hey Jim! Looks good.I don't use Penn spinning reels, but you can't beat the quality of a conventional Penn boat reel for the price. I love the 114H for grouper and snapper down in Fl. and I use 2 Penn 200 Surfmasters for the Flatheads I get in Pa. I just recently had the pleasure of fishing out in the Potomic River for Blue cats and even though we didn't get one over #25 on the Surfmasters but it had no problem wenching the fish in. I have caught
Flatheads over #40 with them though and they handle the weather good.I think that for the money they are by far the best catfish reel.
I have aluminum spools and oversized handles on them. I have them spooled up with #100 Power Pro and I can sling them very far.

Great applications for those reels. It is true, like you said, that you can cast farther with anodized aluminum spools because it lightens the suspended weight. You get my vote for you being a "Pennhead"!

well shoot, i decided to ask Jim for his expertise in helping me get a couple baitcasters for a baitcater dummy to try. Have always used spinning all these years. Jim came through for me. Setting me up with 2 209's... and left handed no less. Didn't know if this would be possible, but got to real nice reels in no time at all. Thanks again Jim, with out your help, i wouldn't have known where to begin. !st time out was comical, 2 bird nests right off the bat. But from there on out and some adjustments, things went smooth. had a good day on the river with the channels with them.

Jim's your go to guy, if your a novice with the baitcasters. He'll set you up right and treat you fair. Keep up the good work jim !!

      Good Mornin' Skipper!

Jigmasters? You betcha!  I'll call you and we'll talk details, but I'd be honored to be your go-to guy for keeping your Penns in top condition. Great site you got, by the way. Looks like you really take your  customers out in style! I grew up fishin on party boats out of  Santa Cruz on the West coast, but I never was on any boats as nice as yours!
                                     Tight lines, Skipper!

hi jim i like to change my line often. is there a line
out there that stands up to blues without pitting up or burring. most lines leave 100 yds on spool that you wind up not using. and 30lb test is too strong for spinners and does not tighten on spool well.
plus you have to mortgage you house if you shop at cabelas
